One of the best looking cars of the fifties is the legendary Ford Crown Victoria. With unique styling that no other car line shared, the Crown Vic claim to fame was a wrap over the roof tiara that sported painted black slots at the rear. It was basically a 2 door hardtop with the tiara separating the front and rear side windows giving it an unusual silhouette. What was cool is the styling cue was also on the inside head liner. In 1955 Ford Motor Car Company reacted to gm's Corvette Sports Car with a model of their own ..the " Thunderbird ". The 1955 model had a removable hardtop with a 102 inch wheel-base chassis that was 175.3 inches overall, with a width of 72 inches and a height of 52 inches. Curb weight was 2833 pounds. The engine was a Mercury 292 cubic inch V-8, exclusive to the Thunderbird line, which had 198 horsepower with the automatic transmission. The first Thunderbird came off the Dearborn assembly line October 22, 1954 and had at least 4,000 orders waiting on the first day of production. Over 16,000 units of the 1955 Thunderbird were ultimately sold. This 1955 Ford 2 door sedan would be a car that could be restored or it has a lot of good parts, including the 239 V8 engine, and 3 speed transmission. There is rust out in the floorboards, bottom of the rear quarter panels and in the rocker panels. There are some small spots of rust by the headlights, and there is some rust in the bottom of the front fenders. The trunk floor is very good. The rear bumper is missing. There is some minor damage in the hood, and some minor dings in the trunk lid, key lock is missing. There is a mirror and hood ornament in the trunk. Missing stainless strip on drivers door. There is a dent on both sides of the car just behind the door, nothing hard to fix. Doors are very decent. Seats are all intact, rear seat still has the seat covering.
